My training began in 1997 when I first started to study massage with the Scottish School of Professional Massage Therapists. I initially enrolled on a one year course and then went on to a further two year Diploma in Advanced Remedial Massage. Following this I moved with my family to Oxford where I completed a five year BSc Hons Degree in Osteopathy at Oxford Brookes University, from which I graduated with first class honours. We moved back to the North of Scotland in 2004 and I have been working as an osteopath in the Moray and Inverness area ever since.

My specific areas of osteopathic interest are in cranial and soft tissue work and I use my background of massage and muscle energy techniques combined with cranial and traditional (structural) osteopathy. I have found that this approach gives me a good scope to treat a wide range of patients from babies and small children through to sports people and the elderly.

Since graduating I have attended postgraduate courses in Cranial osteopathy, Sports Massage and Pilates. I continue to keep my skills updated and to study further into these and other areas of osteopathic theory and practice.

I use a combination of treatment approaches with each patient taking into consideration their age, their problems and any preferences they may have. My wish is to provide a holistic, therapeutic environment for my patient's in which they can feel safe and able to discuss their health and be fully part of the treatment process. We make joint decisions about all the techniques used during the treatments, and these can be altered to suit the patients needs / preferences. I believe strongly in the body's ability to self-heal, and that osteopathy or any form of therapy is just a way of supporting this to happen when for some reason it has not done so spontaneously. We all have the ability to reach our body's full potential, sometimes it just needs someone to 'hold our hands' for a while to allow this process to occur.
